Since the 1950s, plastics have been increasingly used to make sport cars lighter and more agile, and over the years they’ve played a growing role in overall vehicle design.
Plastics have inspired major advancements in vehicle safety and design; they’re used extensively in the now standard issues that keep us on the road, like seatbelts, airbags, and crumple zones. And today’s vehicles take advantage of advanced plastics with special properties—such as lightweight, shatter-resistant polycarbonate and plastic-composite materials—to contribute to fuel economy, safety, and innovative design.
In order to highlight this integral role of plastics in the evolution of the modern vehicle, our Plastics Make it Possible® team has launched Plastics Speedway, a fast-paced, online car racing game. Players can choose from seven decades of virtual vehicles, and as they race around curves and dodge obstacles at high speeds, they experience how plastics contribute to differences in speed, handling, and gas mileage.
For anyone interested in cars, Plastics Speedway is a unique way to learn about how plastics have made our modern vehicles possible.
To celebrate the game’s launch, for a limited time, we’re giving away $1000 to one lucky racer who completes the course. The best part is, you don’t even have to leave your computer to take a test drive.
