For CHEMTREC®, the world’s foremost emergency call center for incidents involving chemicals, hazardous materials and dangerous goods, building relationships with firefighters, law enforcement officials and other emergency responders is one of the organization’s most valued priorities, according to Heather Rose, communications manager at CHEMTREC.
When CHEMTREC’s offices were located in Rosslyn, VA, Heather and her colleagues enjoyed getting to know many of the first responders from the highly regarded Arlington Fire Department. Last month, they had the pleasure of hosting representatives from two other fire departments – Jefferson, VA and Merrifield, VA – to add to the strong ties they already built with their friends in Arlington.
During the visit – the first of many, Heather hopes – over a dozen members of the two fire departments mingled with CHEMTREC staff over breakfast, participated in a short information session and toured the new CHEMTREC offices, including the state-of-the-art Operations Center. They also seized the opportunity to brainstorm about other ways to collaborate during disaster recovery situations and to enhance their public outreach efforts and community presence in the Northern Virginia area.
If you are a member of a Fairfax County fire department and would like to schedule a visit to CHEMTREC, please do not hesitate to contact Heather_Rose@americanchemistry.com.
